This page serves as a resource for hosts that are creating their own guides on Folio. These are suggestions to improve your experience and your guests’ experience with Folio.

If you are starting from scratch, feel free to use our Template Guide to get you up and running ASAP.

Guide Template

Property Details

  1. Include at least one point of contact, either through phone or email.
  2. Utilize the “Additional link to promote field” if you can. Even if it is another booking link from a different site, it will increase your chances of getting repeat bookings.
  3. Utilize the “Directions” field to explain any necessary details or difficulties in first arriving to your property. Sometimes the GPS isn’t always right!

Amenities

  1. Keep text clear and concise. Use images and YouTube links for amenities that are more difficult to explain over text.
  2. Use text editing tools like bold, italics and underline to make your most important information stand out.
  3. Don’t over-do it! Guests will likely not read your entire guide, but instead look for necessary information when applicable. If a guest experiences “information overload”, they may simply give up and ask you more questions.

Activities

  1. Include at least one activity for each of the following categories:
    1. Provisions (Groceries, convenience)
    2. Eat & Drink (Restaurants, bars, coffee shops)
    3. See & Do (Local attractions, family activities)
  2. Add personalized notes for activities that are meaningful to you. Your guests will be more encouraged to try that activity out, and will lead to better reviews/more bookings.
  3. Utilize the “Our Favorites” category, so guests can know what your top recommendations are.

Multiple Guides

  1. Create a “template guide” with the amenities and activities that you know will appear in multiple guides. You can duplicate this so you don’t have to add the same information twice.
  2. Use the “All Activities” tab to add and remove activity recommendations from specific guides. Working from this screen will save you the time of going in and out of individual guides.
